Fall 2024 Convocation
¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ is proud to welcome members of the Fall 2024 graduation class back to Kingston to celebrate Convocation.
Ceremonies will be taking place at from November 11 to 15.

Planning Checklists for Convocation

All Fall 2024 ceremonies will be held at .
Please allow sufficient travel time to arrive on campus and park. Refer to the Construction, Directions and Parking section below for details on road work and detour routes to campus.
Graduates:
- Please arrive at 2 hours prior to the ceremony start time.
- For ceremonies that begin at 10 am, arrive by 8 am.
- For 2:30 pm ceremonies, arrive by 12:30 pm.
- There will be lots of standing – we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes!
- If you have pre-booked your gown and hood for your ceremony, you will pick it up in Kingston Hall, lower level. Have your booking confirmation with you.
- Same-day rentals will be offered, subject to availability.

- Bring photo ID; please minimize other personal items. See prohibited items below.
- You can leave your coat/items in Kingston Hall during the ceremony.
Guests:
- Grant Hall doors will open 90 minutes before ceremony start time
- There is no assigned seating.
- There is no coat check for guests.
- Ceremonies are expected to run 1.5 - 2 hours.
- There are washrooms on the lower floor of the building.
Bags and Belongings:
- Please minimize bags/belongings.
- Bags will be subject to a cursory visual check to ensure prohibited items are not brought into the building. Prohibited items include:
- Noisemakers, such as cow bells, air horns, musical instruments, megaphones, drums, or electronic noisemakers  
- Aerosol cans (e.g. silly string) 
- Liquids, except for personal water bottles. Additional exceptions will be made for accessibility. 
- Large signs, banners, or flags that may obstruct the view of other guests
- Pamphlets, handouts, advertisements for distribution
- Items that could physically cause harm to other individuals or damage to the facilities
- Pets, except service animals (as defined by the Queen’s policy)  
Please note: Some of the graduates and guests in attendance suffer from sensitivities due to scented products. We kindly request that you consider refraining from wearing scented products to this event.
Construction, Directions and Parking
The City of Kingston routinely conducts road construction and repairs during the year.
City construction projects have closed a section of Union St, west of campus, and you may experience delays on Sir John A McDonald Blvd. between Princess and Bath Streets, and on Earl St., between University Ave. and Aberdeen St. In addition, University Ave. is closed between Earl and Union Streets.
Follow detours, and give yourself plenty of time to arrive on campus and park.

Free Parking:
During Convocation, all ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ surface "Permit Required" parking lots and "Permit Required" on-street parking spaces provide free parking during Convocation ceremonies.
- PLEASE NOTE THAT VEHICLES PARKED IN "PERMIT REQUIRED RESERVED 24/7" PARKING SPACES WILL BE TICKETED.
- Payment is still required in all City of Kingston on-street metered parking spaces and 'Pay and Display' zones.
- Please respect special needs parking spaces and fire lanes.

Underground Parking
- A paid underground parking lot is located on Stuart Street (at the corner of University Avenue).
- Please respect special needs parking spaces and fire lanes.
'Pay and Display' Meters
- Payment is required at all City of Kingston on-street parking meters and in the municipal parking lots on the waterfront. Meters will accept coins or credit cards.
- Please Note: Hourly rates will vary according to location.

- Follow Hwy 401 East to Kingston
Directions from Montreal
- Follow Hwy 20 West (becoming Hwy 401 West in Ontario)
Directions from Ottawa
- Follow Hwy 416 South to Hwy 401, then Hwy 401 West to Kingston
Directions from Syracuse, NY
- Follow Interstate 81 North to the International border, then Hwy 401 West to Kingston
Directions from Hwy 401 to the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Campus
- Exit at Sir John A Macdonald Boulevard (Exit 615) and drive south to Union Street
- Turn left at the traffic lights and travel six blocks east to get to the main campus (intersection of Union Street and University Avenue)

Due to capacity and seating limits, graduates who have indicated attending and enter number of guests invited in Maintain Convocation Details in SOLUS by the deadline of October 20 are limited to 3 guests.
Additional Guests
- If you choose to bring more than 3 guests, there may be a seat available for a fourth guest, but this is not guaranteed
- A special viewing room will be available on site at Kingston Hall (Room 101)
- Please note, all ceremonies will be livestreamed

Regalia Rentals for Fall 2024 Graduates
Gaspard and Sons (in conjunction with the Alma Mater Society) is the service provider for graduation regalia (hoods and gowns) at ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥.
For those interested in renting hoods and gowns, please visit the Gaspard/AMS 'Build A Grad' online ordering portal at .
The deadline for online ordering is November 3, 2024 at 11:59 pm.
Same day rentals will be available for those who did not pre-book regalia. If you did not rent online, please bring your Student ID, or Photo ID. Gaspard accepts Visa, MasterCard, Visa Debit and prepaid credit cards.

Indigenous Traditional Attire
Indigenous graduates and faculty may choose to wear traditional Indigenous attire (First Nations, Metis, or Inuit), in lieu of a gown and hood, at convocation ceremonies.
All graduates who choose to wear traditional regalia, or wish to receive a gift, must confirm arrangements with the Four Directions Indigenous Student Centre via an online submission form at least two weeks prior to the future event they are scheduled to attend. This is to inform the event organizers.

Queen’s University acknowledges the diversity of Indigenous peoples, communities, and nations. As such it is recognized that traditional Indigenous attire may vary.
Degree, Diploma, and Certificate Pickup – Fall 2024 Graduates
Parchments for Fall 2024 graduates will be distributed to attending graduates as they enter the staging area.
Now that you are a graduate of Queen’s, display your diploma with pride by purchasing a Queen’s frame:
On-Site Photos
At Kingston Hall, after your ceremony, you can return your rental gown and hood right away, or you can meet your family and friends and take photos before returning your gown and hood.
- Gowns and hoods must then be returned to Kingston Hall

Event Photography and Videography
Please note that photography and videography will be taking place at the Fall 2023 Convocation Ceremonies for promotional and archival purposes. The photographs and recordings may be used in applications including but not limited to print, broadcast, electronic, digital, and social media, for promoting, publicizing, or explaining Queen’s or its activities and for administrative, educational, or research purposes.
