Biography
Jacoba Lilius joined the Employment Relations Program in 2006 after receiving her Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the University of Michigan. Dr. Lilius teaches in both the graduate programs (MIR and PMIR) and undergraduate programs (BA Minor and Certificate in Employment Relations) offered in the Employment Relations Program at Queen’s, leading courses such as Organizational Behavior and Conflict Management.
Her research centers on understanding the organizational factors and interpersonal strategies that enable people to stay engaged and derive meaning from their work despite impoverished or challenging conditions. She is also part of a research team called the Compassion Lab (www.compassionlab.com) whose research focuses on the nature and impact of compassion in work organizations. Her published work includes articles in the Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Harvard Business Review, Human Relations, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and American Behavioral Scientist, as well as book chapters in the Handbook of Organizational Studies and the Handbook of Positive Organizational Scholarship.
