Nomination Criteria
The goal of the Dean’s Teaching and Learning Innovation Award is to celebrate the faculty members who are leaders in innovation in the Faculty of Arts and Science. The award can recognize achievements in specific courses or academic initiatives outside a course, over the past year.
Eligibility
Individuals who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- Full or part time instructors who are tenure track faculty members, tenured faculty members, continuing adjuncts or term adjuncts including those teaching at Bader College.
- Have taught a minimum of 9.0 units at Queen’s over the past three years and 3.0 units in the past year (or equivalent).
Nomination Process
Nominations can come from the applicant or another member of the unit such as the Undergraduate Chair, faculty members or staff.
Selection Process
Applications will be evaluated based on the following rubric.
The selection committee will be composed of the Associate Dean Teaching & Learning, Director of Arts and Science Online, Director of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenization (EDII), one instructor and one student from the Faculty of Arts and Science. The instructor is ideally a previous award winner.
Presentation of the Award
Presentation will include a mounted certificate and $3,000. For Faculty and staff - this award will be processed as salary payment and subject to mandatory payroll deductions. Award recipients will be announced in the Faculty of Arts and Science newsletter at the September Faculty Board.
Timing
Applications are now open and close May 1st. Award recipients will be notified in June.
