A donation to the United Way allows me to make a difference in my community through the agencies that directly connect those in need with the services available to assist them.

James Ligthart

As a professor of urban planning, I admire the role that the United Way plays in coordinating the delivery of social services to improve the lives of Kingston's vulnerable populations. For example, the Success by 6 program supports programs that work with young children and identifies & fills local gaps in children's services in disadvantaged neighbourhoods. This form of evidence-based social planning is an effective use of my donations.
