Students registered in Chinese courses (CHIN 100, 200, and 300) and Japanese courses (JAPN 100 and 200) who have language background are required to take a placement test to be placed in an appropriate level. CHIN 100 and JAPN 100 is a course for students with no or little background.

Placement test will be given remotely (on Zoom) during the Orientation Week, August 30th- September 3rd at 8:30-11:30am & 1:30-6:30pm (eastern daylight time). Please make an appointment with Prof. Xuelin Bai at xb@queensu.ca. If a student has already completed the CHIN100 or CHIN200 course at Queen’s University, there is no need to take the placement test.
