LING 202 Grader Position
Winter 2025
Applications are invited for a Grader for LING 202 Canadian English. Students wishing to apply for a this position should meet the following criteria:
- Registered in the Major or Minor Concentration in Linguistics, with 3rd or 4th year standing.
- Completion of LING 202 Canadian English with a final grade of A or higher.
In addition to the general criteria listed above, selection will be based on LING course grades, number of core courses completed (especially courses relating to sociolinguistics / social aspects of language use), and year of study. Preference will be given to students who have not previously held a TA, grader, or RA position in the Linguistics program.
The Grader will be expected to work 72 hours total, approximately 6 hours per week during the semester and in the week following the final exam for the course (to fall during the April exam period). Work will take place primarily in-person on Queen’s campus. The pay for this position is $22/hour + 4% vacation pay.
- Workplace training (required of all Queen’s employees);
- Grading LING 202 tests and assignments;
- Occasional attendance in LING 202 classes (Monday 1:00-2:30, Wednesday 11:30-1:00);
- Collating ungraded responses (in class and in onQ)
