Denbeigh Whitmarsh (she/her) is starting an MA in English Literature at Queen’s with a special interest in rural Canadian oral history. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching at the Auckland University of Technology (New Zealand), and a BA in French Literature at McGill University, where she studied the semiotics of oral literature in France and its special relationship to the land as a mnemonic device and cultural repository. She plans to further pursue this line of questioning at ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥, but now through the lens of settler Canadian oral literature, with special attention given to the impact this literary colonization has on the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island.
