Students cheering at Homecoming

Join in!

Queen’s and Bader College students don't limit their learning to the classroom. They join clubs, run for student government, and volunteer their time in the local community. At ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and Bader College, learning is about exploring all your capabilities — academic and otherwise — while learning the values of teamwork, and extending this knowledge to topics and causes that interest you beyond your major. A well-rounded education produces well-rounded individuals, equipped to take on the world and succeed in life after graduation.

Japanese ClubStudents at Bader College have the opportunity to join, or start your own clubs on campus, which are always student-led, so vary term to term. Student Services are always keen to have students set up activities and provide support throughout the year. Student Services can also help you to connect to local clubs. For instance in the past, Bader College students have joined local rowing and rugby clubs. Previous student-led clubs have included: Dance Club, Musical Theatre Troupe, Motion Picture Society, and Astronomy Club.

Student Leadership & Committees

There are a variety of student leadership opportunities at Bader College. Throughout the Fall and Winter terms, various leadership groups work to assist in establishing a cohesive student body as well as enabling good working connections between students, faculty and staff. These groups work closely with Student Services and run events for the student body throughout the academic year, many of which facilitate peer-based community building. Activities include: Charity auction, Town Hall meetings and social events in the Headless Drummer, such as lip-sync battles, trivia nights and karaoke.

Committees are special interest groups led by Student Life Coordinators. By participating in a committee, students will receive a work-simulated experience and develop important career skills like teamwork, organization, communication and much more. There are three different committees offered by Student Services:

  • Cultural Affairs Committee.

  • Peer Health Educators (PHEs) and

  • Peer-Assisted Learning Supporters (PALs).

Volunteering

VolunteeringVolunteering is a great way to make a difference in the local community and to meet new people. As well as being a lot of fun, volunteering enhances your experience at the Castle and helps you develop new skills. Previous students have volunteered weekly:

  • at a cat adoption centre in Eastbourne.

  • with the local Brownies & Guides Troupe in Hailsham.

  • at Herstmonceux Village Information Centre.

  • at St. Wilfrid's Hospice, Eastbourne.

  • in the Castle gardens and ponds.
