The fund provides up to $15,000 for eligible costs, including travel, accommodation, subsistence, and artistic supplies/materials/technology.

VPR Visiting Artist-in-Residence intake date for 2025:

Residencies should coincide with the academic term cycle and will last up to eight (8) weeks.

Eligibility

Applications will come from Queen’s faculty members who will then host the Visiting Artist. Applications will be assessed on the following three criteria:

  • Quality of the mentoring environment of the Queen’s faculty member host  (e.g, research and research creation facilities, student engagement, strategies for diverse recruitment of trainees, availability of additional funds to support research creation activities of the Artist-in-Residence)

  • Quality of the Artist-in-Residence’s project proposal (e.g., potential for new knowledge, feasibility, equity/diversity/inclusion in project design and practice)

  • Preparation of the Artist for the residency (e.g., artist experience (artist portfolio/CV), success in past projects and impact for career stage)

VPR Visiting Artist-in-Residence Selection Committee
