The following table summarizes over 20 health funding opportunities that are restricted to New Investigators. The definition of a 'New Investigator' varies between funding agencies. Most agencies define the term as a person who has taken up their first academic appointment within the past 5 years (or, less commonly, who have obtained their Ph.D. in the past 10 years).
The table below is primarily intended to serve as a planning document. Not all programs summarized below are currently open & accepting applications. Applicants can, however, use this table to identify possible sources of funding and plan submissions accordingly.
