Dr. 's visit to Mexico is part of the Emerging Leaders of the America's Program - Faculty Mobility Partnership Building Program, funded by Global Affairs Canada - Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development. She recently wrote to us to share the following reflections:

My visit to the Physical Activity and Lifestyle Program at the University of Guadalajara provided an invaluable opportunity for Master's students to present their research proposals, each focusing on health, physical activity, and sport research with diverse populations. From promoting inclusive physical activity and sport in community settings to fostering mental well-being through active lifestyle interventions, the research topics reflected both creativity and a deep commitment to addressing pressing health challenges.

After each presentation, we opened the floor for constructive dialogue, offering feedback on methodology, ethical considerations, and strategies for community engagement. This collaborative approach allowed students to refine their research questions and approaches while drawing from the group's collective insights and diverse perspectives.

One recurring theme was the importance of culturally and contextually responsive and inclusive research methods. The conversation naturally evolved into a broader reflection on the shared goals between Queen’s University and the University of Guadalajara in promoting health equity and community well-being.

It was inspiring to witness the passion and commitment of these graduate students as they navigate their academic journeys and contribute to the field of health, physical activity, and sport promotion research. This session reinforced the value of international academic exchanges in fostering knowledge sharing, mentorship, and collaborative problem-solving.
