I was born in British Columbia, grew up in Northern Ontario and was educated at the University of Waterloo where I studied early modern England under John F.H. New and Canadian First Nations under E. Palmer Patterson. I held a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥, Kingston where I have been a member of the History department since 2000. My areas of expertise are religious dissent in the 16th and 17th centuries and the Church of England on the North West Canadian frontier, with a broadening research and teaching profile that includes peoples throughout history who have been marginalized due to intolerance across the socio-cultural, religious and political spectrums.
