Dr. Nancy van Deusen and Dr. Awet Weldemicheal from the Department of History were among four researchers from ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ who were recently elected to the Royal Society of Canada (RSC), one of the highest recognitions for Canadian academics in the arts, humanities, and the social and natural sciences.
Dr. van Deusen was elected as a RSC Fellow for her work on women's and gender history, African and Indigenous slavery, and Catholicism in colonial Latin America. Dr. Weldemichael was named to the College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists for his work on colonialism, decolonization, and nationalist movements in Africa and Southeast Asia.
