As the first speakers of the 2024 Speaker Series, History BAH students Patricia Roussel and Marissa Little presented "Tracing Wolfe Island Social History Through Archived Diaries: Uncovering Women's Voices from the Late Nineteenth Century" on Sunday, April 14th 2024. The presentation was built on their archival work completed in the HIST 502 Queen’s Archives Internship which focused on the 25 diaries written between 1887 and 1921 by Wolfe Island resident Irene Dixon Bamford. This project included digitizing and transcribing the diaries, as well as researching Irene Dixon Bamford and her family. The presentation focused on the genealogical timelines they constructed through their consultation with the diaries in addition to sharing other projects which have emerged as a result of this archival endeavor.
Patricia and Marissa were invited to speak at the Wolfe Island Historical Society's 2024 Speaker Series after being introduced to society President, Shauna Kingstone, by the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Public Service/Private Records Archivist, Heather Home, who supervises the HIST 502 ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Archives Internship projects.
