Last week, Don Akenson did two half-hour programs on “Common Threads,” a co-production of WGVU Radio (NPR) and The Interfaith Dialogue Association, discussing his latest book, The Americanization of the Apocalypse (Oxford University Press, 2023).

The Americanization of the Apocalypse is the first book to document--using direct archival evidence--the creation of the ur-text of modern American evangelicalism, The Scofield Reference Bible, and examine the ways that the rise of modern American evangelicalism is actually a transnational story.
