Department hosts colloquium on Crisis and Migration in Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages

On Friday and Saturday, November 4-5th, the Department hosted a colloquium on Crisis and Migration in Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages. Organised by Grant Schrama, a Byzantine history PhD Candidate in the Department (with the assistance of Eduardo Fabbro from the University of Toronto), the colloquium attracted sixteen faculty and graduate student speakers with some travelling from as far away as Japan and the UK. Sessions were well attended with around fifty at the keynote lecture on Friday evening, given by Professor John Osborne of Carleton University. The colloquium was made possible by the Nugent Fund with additional support in one form or another from the Department of Classics, the Canadian Committee of Byzantinists and SCAPAT (Section canadienne de l’Association pour l’Antiquité tardive).
