Announcement:
We are very pleased to announce that the Directorate of Academics/Department of Defence Studies at the Canadian Forces College (CFC)/Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) has expanded; we have hired two outstanding academics to our team. The Department, already known as the largest concentration of interdisciplinary defence and security studies-focused academics in Canada, now includes thirteen dedicated full-time faculty.
Dr Richard Goette comes to the CFC at the rank of Associate Professor, with both teaching and research expertise in air power, military history (especially the history of the RCAF and of specific commanders), Canadian-American continental defence, the history of professional military education (PME), and command and leadership. He has a PhD in history from Queen’s University. He has worked at the CFC as a sessional and contract instructor for almost ten years and has already supervised more than 30 directed research papers in the Masters in Defence Studies (MDS) programme. He has also designed and taught a very successful complementary study course on air power, which will continue this year. UBC Press recently published his book on sovereignty and command in US-Canadian continental air defence. He has written or co-authored more than a dozen book chapters, has published in Canadian Military History, and also engages regularly in professional journals, such as the Royal Canadian Air Force Journal.
