Milen specializes in modern European intellectual and cultural history. His doctoral thesis examined the responses of European intellectuals since the 1880s to an increasingly virulent and organized anti-Semitism in Europe and the ways in which they sought to formulate explanations of the character and origins of anti-Semitism and of the sources and conflicts of Jewish identity.
