A survey of Queen’s students is currently underway to gather information about how they use the many student life spaces across campus. The results will help guide space enhancements in the coming years.
The survey, jointly run by the university, the Alma Mater Society and the Society of Graduate and Professional Students, asks questions about which student life spaces students use, how often they use them and how well those spaces meet their needs.
The survey will inform the work of the (SLSPAS), which is in the process of developing a plan to guide the evolution of student life space on campus.
“This survey is a key part of the consultation process that the SLSPAS is undertaking,” says Laeeque Daneshmend, Deputy Provost and chair of the SLSPAS. “The feedback we gather will inform the development of a student life space plan and the evolution of these spaces over the coming years. Ultimately, that will mean spaces which better support academic success and overall wellness.”
Student life space is a broad term for any space that facilitates out-of-classroom interaction and helps enhance a holistic Queen’s experience. It includes a diversity of spaces, including formal and informal group study spaces, club spaces, etc.
The subcommittee is expected to complete its student life space plan by the fall. The plan will align closely with the Campus Master Plan, the Library and Archives Master Plan and the Academic Plan.
