WOMEN'S SOCCER

The Gaels defeated the No. 9 Ottawa Gee-Gees 1-0 in a hard-fought game that required extra time that sees them advance to the OUA Final Four.

Laura Callender received the ball with her back to goal about 10 yards out, made a great turn to shake her defender, and made no mistake to find the back of the net in 109th minute.

“I was just trying to get shots on target at that point and as soon as Matija (Skoko) put a great ball in, I just tried to square up and put the ball in” says Callender. “It was a really awesome win and I think a challenge like this has given us great confidence going into the next game.”

The Gaels open OUA Final Four next weekend, with OUA medals and a spot in the national championship on the line, against the Western Mustangs.

MEN'S SOCCER

The ֱ Gaels men’s soccer team battled the No. 3 Ryerson Rams through 120 minutes, ultimately falling 1-0 in extra time Sunday in the OUA quarterfinal.

In extra time, first-year Gaels keeper Alex Jones saved a penalty kick to keep it scoreless. However, with eight minutes left in the second half of extra time, Ryerson netted the winner and ֱ couldn't find an answer, ending the Gaels season.
