The first few weeks of September on campus are always aimed at introducing new students to each other and to life at Queen’s.
This year, as orientation gets underway, most activities are being offered virtually, with some in-person outdoor events happening on campus later in September. As part of ֱ health and safety measures for a safe return to campus, students must have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to participate in in-person activities.
“We have worked with student leaders to plan a variety of events to give incoming students a chance to build community with their new peers and adjust to university life,” says Meg Ferriman, Director, Student Life and Learning in Student Affairs. “By delivering most of the programming virtually, we hope to keep everyone safe while still helping our new students connect with Queen’s and learn about the wider Kingston community.”
Online welcoming activities for all incoming undergraduates run from Aug. 30 to Sept. 4. Campus tours are being offered to all students on Sept. 5 and 6.
Student-led outdoor activities will be held on campus on the weekends of Sept. 11-12 and Sept. 18-19, with groups of no more than 100, the provincial limit for outdoor gatherings.
Special orientation activities are being held for international students, Indigenous students, first-year students not living in residence, and students enrolled at the Bader International Study Centre.
