Queen’s researchers and their work are featured prominently on a new website for the Kingston General Hospital Research Institute. The site, launched in conjunction with the overall KGH website redesign, focuses on research being done in the hospital and includes a number of videos highlighting scientists and their patients. It offers extensive resources for researchers and their teams, and provides information for patients and families interested in taking part in hospital-based research.

“Outstanding researchers are creating exciting new opportunities for discovery and collaboration,” says Roger Deeley, Queen’s University researcher, Vice President, Health Sciences Research, KGH and President, KGHRI.  “This website enables us to showcase our researchers, their work, and its impact on patients, families and the broader community.”

A centerpiece of the site is its library of researcher profiles, focusing on both doctors and scientists whose research leads to better patient care and more effective prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease and illness.

“The new KGHRI website brings together highlights of the research activities of all those conducting clinical research within the halls of KGH,” says Queen’s University researcher Anne Ellis (Medicine). “It’s an exciting development, because it not only is a resource for trainees looking for new research opportunities but also for potential research study participants.”

The site also includes helpful links for potential industrial partners and collaborators.

Researchers can find instructions and resources on starting and running their research programs, including links to policies and fillable forms.

Patients and families can learn how research helps them, find out how to take part in research studies, and see who is doing those studies.

The (KGHRI) is the not-for-profit academic health research institute of Kingston General Hospital. KHRI works in close collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University and with its partner hospitals, Hotel Dieu Hospital and Providence Care, advancing research leading to better treatment and care of Canadians.
