Principal meets with sexual assault working group

Principal Daniel Woolf met with the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Working Group on Dec. 2, to discuss the group’s work and priorities for the next several months.

“I wanted to meet with group members to get a better sense of the work they’ve done to date and learn more about their current projects,” says Principal Woolf. “I was impressed by the dedication shown by the members of the Working Group, and their plans to tackle the issue of sexual assault on campus.”
At the meeting, group members made a decision to establish a sub-committee including policy and legal experts to aid in the creation of a sexual assault policy for Queen’s.
The Working Group is a network of students, faculty and staff who convene to mobilize efforts to respond to sexual assault on campus.
“The meeting of the Working Group and Principal Woolf went very well,” says Arig al Shaibah, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs (Student Life and Learning) and Chair of the Working Group. “Group members have been working on a comprehensive set of recommendations and are poised to finalize these in the coming weeks for release in early 2015. Recognizing the urgency surrounding the matter of a centralized policy, we finalized the wording for the recommendation relating to the development of a policy and associated policies and protocols.”
