Queen’s staff and faculty will once again have the opportunity to learn new skills and network with colleagues from across the university with the launch of the 2023-2024 . With more than 80 offerings, including certificate programs and individual workshops, the catalogue provides Queen’s employees with a variety of in-person and virtual options for self-improvement and professional development.

“We are thrilled to offer another year of training and development opportunities which have been thoughtfully crafted and tailored for Queen’s employees,” says Katie Ramoutar, Manager, Organizational Development and Learning (OD&L). “We know that continued investment in our people is more important than ever and critical to the Queen’s Strategy, which is why we strive to make our offerings easily accessible and, in many cases, available at no cost.”

New and improved programming for 2023-2024 includes:

  • Career and Academic Advising Certificate (CAAC) – a joint initiative developed by Career Services, the Faculty of Arts and Science, and the Career Centre at Smith School of Business, which aims to provide employees with competencies to support students in their professional and academic journeys.
  • Data Proficiency Workshop Series – offered in a new format by IT Services to help revolutionize the way you work with data.
  • Queen’s Volunteer Engagement Certificate (QVEC) – returning to the learning catalogue due to popular demand.

A reminder that workshops are open to all employees including managers, staff, faculty, contract, casuals, and postdoctoral fellows. Employees are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the workshops available, and managers are reminded of the key role they play in supporting ongoing learning and development for employees.

As a response to the results from the Employee Experiences Survey, more learning and professional development opportunities will be offered throughout the year, including more in-person and virtual options. All core workshops that are required as part of a certificate will also be offered twice.

If you are an employee or manager seeking guidance on workshops or development opportunities, please contact the OD&L team. To view the complete learning catalogue, visit the .

More than 3,000 employees participated in the learning catalogue programming last year, with over 75 successful graduates across four different certificate programs.
