Queen’s Athletics & Recreation (A&R), in collaboration with The Queen’s Esports Association (QEA), has established a new Esports Recreation Club.

A&R and QEA student leaders will work together to foster a larger community for esports at Queen’s, which is a great way to build a digital community during the pandemic. QEA, formerly an AMS student club, has been working with A&R over the past year to align their club activities to grow competitive opportunities for students, leveraging the recreational club infrastructure and supports.

“The move under the Athletics and Recreation umbrella has been something our club has been building up to for a long time,” says Bredan Willet, Co-Chair for QEA 2020-21. “I am excited to see what great developments will come for both our departments from this new-found partnership.”

The Esports Recreation Club will provide opportunities for students and community members to participate in video game competitions and esports social events. This announcement places the Queen’s community at the centre of a growing, creative, and innovative field.

The club will be participating in the Ontario Postsecondary Esports tournament, that includes League of Legends, Overwatch, and Rocket League, in March 2021. Queen’s esports teams compete in one of the largest competitive esports leagues at the post-secondary level, the Collegiate Star League (CSL). The club will also continue its intramural leagues and tournaments that have been running since October.

Club Registration is now.
