Basketball teams unstoppable on weekend

Women’s Basketball
The ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Gaels women's basketball team (11-3) picked up a pair of wins on the weekend, continuing their strong team play.
On Saturday the Gaels used a strong second half to defeat the Lakehead Thunderwolves (5-8) 69-51. Abby Dixon scored a team-high 15 points and added 11 rebounds to pick up her second double-double of the season. Robyn Pearson also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
On Friday, Pearson picked up another double-double in the Gaels' 75-61 win over the Guelph Gryphons (6-6). Pearson had a game-high 20 points along with 15 rebounds, two blocks and an assist.
Men’s Basketball
It was a winning weekend for the Queen’s Gaels men’s basketball team (9-5) as they defeated the Lakehead Thunderwolves 80-72 and the Guelph Gryphons 93-81.
Sukhpreet Singh had a game-high 36 points on Saturday against the Thunderwolves (7-6) and added nine rebounds, two assists and a steal for the Gaels.
Singh was top scorer on Friday as well with 24 points, while Ryall Stroud added 17 points and nine rebounds against the Gryphons (5-7).
Women’s Hockey
The ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Gaels women's hockey team (10-2-6-2) bounced back on Saturday to earn a split of their games on the weekend, blanking the Laurentian Voyageurs 3-0 in Sudbury.
Caitlyn Lahonen stopped all 30 shots she faced for her sixth shutout of the year. First-year forward Emily Jukosky opened the scoring while Clare McKellar and Kyla Crouse also found the back of the net.
On Friday, the Gaels fell 3-2 against the Nipissing Lakers (11-1-5-5) getting goals from Jessica Wakefield and Katrina Manoukarakis.
Men’s Hockey
The ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Gaels men's hockey team (16-7-2) picked up a win and a loss on the weekend in Waterloo.
On Saturday, Eric Ming scored his team-leading 16th goal in the second overtime period, leading the Gaels to a 5-4 victory over the Waterloo Warriors. Ryan Bloom had a pair of goals and Patrick McGillis and Slater Doggett also scored.
On Sunday, the Gaels dropped a 4-3 shootout decision to the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. Bloom, Doggett and Darcy Greenaway scored for Queen’s.
Women’s Volleyball
The Queen’s Gaels women’s volleyball team (9-7) rallied for a four-set win (18-25, 25-21, 25-10, 25-7) against the Brock Badgers (1-13) on Saturday.
The Gaels were led by Shannon Neville with 14 kills and 10 digs while Becky Wilson and Caroline Livingston had 10 digs apiece. Shannon Hopkins added seven digs and 11 kills.
Men’s Volleyball
The No. 8 ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Gaels men’s volleyball team (12-5) split their weekend games .
On Saturday, after a promising start the Gaels tumbled to the Waterloo Warriors (9-8) in four sets (23-25, 28-26, 25-21, 25-17). The Gaels got a strong performance from veteran outside hitter Marko Dakic who led with 14 kills, six digs and two service aces. Mike Tomlinson added 13 kills and seven digs while Ivo Dramov picked up a team-high 10 digs.
On Friday, the Gaels powered past the Guelph Gryphons (4-11) in straight sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-20). Tomlinson had 12 kills as well as two service aces while Jamie Wright tallied 34 assists.
