Following consultations across campus during the 2023-24 academic year led by an external committee, Queen’s has received a report that reviews the university’s academic accommodations system and related procedures.
The external review was established by the Office of the Principal and Vice-Chancellor and the Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) as part of Queen’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, and in accordance with the university’s legal duty to accommodate and support students with disabilities as they pursue their academic goals.
The report is now available on the Inclusive Queen’s website.
“We would like to thank all students, faculty, and staff who participated in this review process over the past year, along with the team of expert external reviewers and members of the review advisory committee,” says Provost Matthew Evans.
As an immediate next step, the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) will be establishing an interim working group to investigate and propose remedies to several pressing issues related to academic accommodations, as detailed in recommendation nine. The working group will include faculty, staff, and student representatives.
Further information on the establishment of the interim working group will be shared in the coming weeks.
