Media Advisory: Queen's to welcome first-year students to Kingston for residence Move-In Weekend

As Queen’s University gets ready to welcome approximately 4,700 first-year undergraduate students into 18 residence buildings across campus from August 26-31, media is invited to see Move-In first-hand. Most students (approx. 3,900) are arriving throughout Saturday, August 3.
In collaboration with the community and municipal partners including the City of Kingston, Visit Kingston and Kingston Police, Queen’s has been planning to safely welcome students and their families to campus, and to ensure a smooth process for everyone.
Move-in by the numbers
- 85 countries represented in the class of 2028
- 4,700 first-year students
- 1,000 volunteers involved in Move-In
- 18 residence buildings
- 150 residence Dons
- 95 Fall Orientation activities
What: Media is invited to attend Queen’s Move-In for first-year students
When: Saturday, August 31, 11-11:30am
Where: Student Affairs information booth, corner of Union St. and University Ave.
Who: Available to speak to the media are:
- Ann Tierney, Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs.
- Leah Wales, Executive Director, Housing and Ancillary Services
- Allen Wu, President and CEO, The Residence Society, Queen’s University.

Many of the parking lots and roads have traffic restrictions in place.
Note: To respect the privacy of all students, media are not permitted inside the residence buildings.
