Queen’s China Liaison Officer Zhiyao Zhang was honoured over the weekend with a Governor General’s Medallion for his work promoting Canadian education ties in China. A letter from Gov. Gen. Johnston recognized the efforts of Dr. Zhang in strengthening links between the two countries, particularly by helping students study abroad in Canada or China.

“This is an exceptional honour for Dr. Zhang and I congratulate him wholeheartedly,” says Queen’s Principal Daniel Woolf. “Dr. Zhang is the bridge between Queen’s and universities in China and he is making huge strides in building relationships that ultimately create a stronger educational partnership between Canada and China. It is wonderful to hear that Dr. Zhang is being recognized for his efforts.”

As the China Liaison, Dr. Zhang focuses on building academic programs between Queen’s and partner schools, recruiting students, developing alumni relations, and facilitating research collaboration.
