The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) has applied to represent certain graduate students who receive monies for research assistance.
The certification vote will be held on Wednesday, April 30 at the JDUC, McLaughlin Room (second floor), from 10 am-2 pm and 3-5 pm. Voters should bring photo ID.
It is not yet clear whether the proposed bargaining unit would include graduate students who perform research assistance as part of their graduate studies program. Therefore, the university strongly encourages all graduate students who perform any form of research assistance to participate in the vote.
The results of the vote will be binding even if voter turnout is poor. If PSAC is certified, all individuals who satisfy the bargaining unit description will be required to pay union dues regardless of whether they support the union.
