Aluminum materials have started to arrive for the temporary bleachers that will be installed at Richardson Stadium this summer. More than 20 sets of bleachers will be installed at the stadium in advance of the Gaels football season and two Homecoming weekends in October. Physical Plant Services expects to have the bleachers constructed and installed by the end of August.
Portions of the old bleachers at the stadium were removed earlier this year after an engineering report recommended doing so. The remainder of the seats, and the field itself, have been approved for use.
The university’s goal is to revitalize its playing fields and Richardson Stadium to be among the highest quality university facilities in Canada to inspire the community, support student health and wellness, showcase Queen’s athletic successes, and to recruit, train and challenge scholar-athletes.
