Students and alumni braved the wet weather on Sunday, Oct. 6 and worked together during the first of two Homecoming weekend food drives in support of the local United Way.
Almost 300 food items, as well as cash for food, was donated by residents in the near-campus neighbourhood and collected on the Kingston Transit AMS bus that was parked at the corner of Union Street and University Avenue.
The bus and the volunteers will be back during the second homecoming weekend, going door-to-door on Sunday, Oct. 20. Returning alumni, students and anyone else interested in volunteering are asked to arrive outside the John Deutsch University Centre at 9:30 am. The community can also support the food drive by dropping off food and donations at the bus at University Avenue and Union Street between 9:30 and 11:30 am, or by giving items to the students and alumni who come to the door.
