Flags on campus are lowered in recognition of today’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, and in honour of Nelson Mandela.
The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women is observed annually on Dec. 6 to commemorate the anniversary of the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre.
Flags are also lowered in honour of Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa and anti-apartheid activist, who received an honorary degree from Queen’s University in 2010 and who passed away on Dec. 5, 2013.
