AUCC strengthens relationship with Israeli universities

  Principal Daniel Woolf, Joseph Klafter, President of Tel Aviv University, and Elizabeth Cannon, President of the University of Calgary, after signing an agreement that will allow for more collaboration between universities in Israel and Canada.

Principal Daniel Woolf visited Israel and the West Bank this week as part of a delegation of six university presidents to the region. Yesterday, the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) signed a five-year memorandum of understanding with the Association of University Heads, Israel (AUH) in a bid to strengthen ties between academic institutions in the two countries.

Principal Woolf, who is the Chair of the Standing Advisory Committee on International Relations with the AUCC and Elizabeth Cannon, President of the University of Calgary and Chair of the Standing Advisory Committee on University Research with the AUCC signed the memorandum on the organization’s behalf. Joseph Klafter, President of Tel Aviv University, signed on behalf of the Association of University Heads Israel (AUH).

The AUCC is the national voice of Canada’s universities, representing 97 Canadian public and private not-for-profit universities. AUH represents Israel’s seven universities.
