Transfer Credits
If you have completed post-secondary education at another university or college prior to Queen’s, you may be eligible for between 18.0 – 42.0 units in transfer credits (towards a 90.0-unit General BA or BSc). For students completing an online BA degree, a maximum of 12.0 of the 42.0 units can be used towards the plan requirements, and for those who are completing an online BSc degree, a maximum of 18.0 of the 42.0 transferred units (excluding supporting courses) can be used towards the plan requirements.
If your courses are from a university, then you may be eligible for a course-for-course transfer, which means you should not enrol in a course that you think you may get transfer credit for. If your courses are from a college, then you may receive a block of transfer credits that will be applied to your elective requirements as Queen’s will not give course-for-course equivalency for college courses.
The process to receive your transfer credits on your student record may take some time. If you expect to get credit for a 1-year core required course for your desired plan – such as PSYC 100, it is recommended that you focus on starting with elective courses for your first year of study and then plan on accessing the upper year courses in that discipline once your transfer credits have been officially approved and are showing on your student record. Many departments will not approve prerequisite waivers to access 200 level or higher courses.
Transfer credit assessments can only be done once your application and required documentation are received at the Undergraduate Admission Office. Certain additional requirements may apply.
How To Run Your Transfer Credit Report (PDF)
You will have your first term of study as an online degree student to submit the additional required information for transfer credit review.
The ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Arts and Science Online office is unable to speculate about transfer credit eligibility as assessments are done on a case-by-case basis. For more detailed information on transfer credits, please email our Admission Coordinator transfer@queensu.ca.
