Award Average Calculation

Unless otherwise stated, the awards average outlined below is used for scholarship consideration.

  • Queen’s will calculate an awards average based on grades available at the time you are offered admission
  • We calculate the awards average using the same courses required for admission to the program(s) you have applied to as identified by Undergraduate Admission
  • Final Grade 12 level courses will always be used in the calculation of the awards average when available. Available mid-term grades for Grade 12 level courses will be included in the award average calculation, if available at the time offered admission. In situations where grade 12 marks are not available to calculate the awards average, grade 11 courses will be used

  • We calculate the awards average using the same courses required for admission to the program(s) you have applied to as identified by Undergraduate Admission
  • Available grades for Grade 12 level courses will always be included in the award average calculation. In situations where grade 12 marks are not available to calculate the awards average, we will use grade 11 courses

To be considered for first-year undergraduate admission awards, you must be eligible for the award and for admission to first year based on published admission requirements and pre-requisites.

  • Applicants offered admission who are currently enrolled in year one of a pre-university CEGEP program will have scholarship eligibility based on their year one fall-term grades, excluding physical education courses

  • For applicants in year two of a pre-university CEGEP program or graduates of the pre-university CEGEP program who have their DEC, the scholarship average will include all academic courses completed at the CEGEP level, excluding physical education courses
  • Graduates of a 3-year professional/career CEGEP program who achieve their DEC are considered as upper-year transfer applicants and are not eligible for admission scholarships

  • We calculate the awards average using the same courses required for admission to the program(s) you have applied to as identified by Undergraduate Admission
  • We calculate the award average in a manner consistent with the calculation and criteria used for admission purposes. Eligibility for grade-based admission scholarships require students to have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.7 or 90%
  • Available grades for Grade 12 level courses will always be included in the award average calculation. In situations where grade 12 marks are not available to calculate the awards average, we will use grade 11 courses
