A new training program for highly qualified students and postdoctoral fellows will be developed in our Department following successful funding from the federal government’s (CREATE) program. The program, entitled NUCLEUS (Network for Ultrafast Computing with Light on Emerging Unconventional Semiconductors), includes experts across six universities, numerous industry partners, and global academic entities. Co-led by Bhavin Shastri (Physics, Engineering Physics, and Astronomy) and (University of Toronto), the program aims to pioneer Canada’s first formal training program in photonics, bridging AI and quantum computing.

You can learn more about the three Queen’s CREATE programs in the Gazette and you can learn more about Dr. Shastri’s research on his website.
