Stephen Leighton works in the areas of and the interconnections amongst philosophical psychology, moral philosophy and ancient philosophy. He is currently working on Aristotle's conception of passion and its tie to virtue, as well as current conceptions of pity. His published work has centred on ancient and contemporary understandings of emotion, particular emotions, and their roles in our life. It has appeared in Phronesis, Ancient Philosophy, Ratio, The Review of Metaphysics, The Journal of Philosophy, The Australasian Journal of Philosophy, amongst others. Recently he edited Philosophy and the Emotions: A Reader.
