PhD student Rogney Piedra Arencibia has won a prestigious Vanier Scholarship to support his research for the next three years. This is only the latest of Rogney's achievements -- he has multiple publications, including the book Marxism and the Dialectics of Nature (in Spanish), which is in its second edition.
The Government of Canada launched the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program in 2008 to strengthen Canada's ability to attract and retain world-class doctoral students and establish Canada as a global centre of excellence in research and higher learning. Vanier Scholars demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences, engineering and health. Rogney won the Vanier Scholarship for his project, "The Peculiar Objectivity of Ideal Objects in Science. The Epistemological Potential of Activity Theory." Congratulations, Rogney!
