Jon Miller was invited to be a visiting scholar at New York University-Abu Dhabi in April and May 2019. NYUAD is one of three NYU campuses around the world which are full degree-granting institutions, the other two being NYU Shanghai and the original NYU in Manhattan. Previous holders of the prestigious position offered to Miller include Julia Annas, Quassim Cassam, Laurie Paul, and Kyle Stanford. Miller was invited specifically for his expertise on the history of cosmopolitanism, which also formed the locus of his conversations in Abu Dhabi. The invitation sent to him also says that his work on reparations and African philosophy are additional reasons why faculty and students were keen to have him spend time with them. Miller spent two weeks at NYUAD, giving talks, leading seminars, and meeting with various people. He reports that it was an extremely productive visit, with at least one monograph likely to emerge from his stay.
