Most leases agreements are for one year and are set from May 1st to April 30th of the following year. There are some lease agreements that go from September 1st to April 30th or August 31st, but they are less common. A lease agreement constitutes a binding agreement that cannot be cancelled if you later determine that the living space is not suitable for you, is too far from campus, or does not meet expectations. Before you sign a lease, make sure you are confident that the space is appropriate for your needs and you have selected the right housemates to live with.
