To support student curiosity and knowledge transfer in the net-zero space, a certificate program has been developed to provide students with the foundational skills and perspectives required to tackle complex issues related to social impact, circular economy, and more specifically focused on the transition to a net-zero economy.
Participating students will have the opportunity to complete net-zero workshops delivered outside of their course schedule. These workshops will utilize a learner-centric approach that uses problem-solving as the path to insights and capability development, and will involve team-based activities and engagement with industry leaders and ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ faculty subject matter experts. Workshops will be delivered in-person on ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ campus and will be approximately 2.5hrs in length. In some cases, supplementary virtual content will be provided to enhance learning.
An Academic Leadership Team comprised of Queen’s University faculty with expertise across social impact, sustainability, and entrepreneurship will oversee the workshop development and content being delivered for the certificate.
By completing the workshops being offered through the certificate, students will be awarded a Certificate in Leading Sustainable Change Towards a Net Zero Economy. This non-credit certificate will be awarded by the Smith School of Business and is meant to be a validated indicator of a recipient’s well-rounded understanding of the complex issues facing Canada’s transition towards a net-zero economy. Students will receive an electronic certificate and can highlight this experience on their resume and to future employers.
