Antonio Nicaso has started studying the involvement of organized crime on social media and the dark web. It's an exciting challenge because it requires updating old conceptual categories when cybercrime and Mafia-like criminal organizations were considered entirely separate. Now, the external resources of the mafias include not only lawyers, accountants, entrepreneurs, consultants, politicians, and police officers but also drug designers and hackers. It is a constantly evolving world that deserves a more in-depth analysis.
In September 2024, he accepted the position of directing Cybrec, the Magna Grecia Foundation's Cybercrime Research Center. In addition to leading a top-tier academic journal on Cybercrime, he and his team will prepare a report to be presented to the United Nations annually. He has also authored two new books, one of which is for young adults, slated for publication in 2024. It will be his first novel. Furthermore, he is developing two TV series based on his publications and a film for which he co-wrote the screenplay.
