The tentative collective agreements between Queen’s University and CUPE Local 229 is now in effect following a successful ratification vote by a successful ratification vote by the Human Resources Committee of the Queen’s Board of Trustees on Dec. 22, 2021.
CUPE Local 229 bargaining unit members voted to ratify the agreement on Dec. 21, 2021.
The renewed collective agreement will succeed the current agreement, effective retroactively to July 1, 2021.
Negotiations between Queen’s and CUPE Local 229 began on June 22, 2021. Bargaining took place over nine full-day sessions. Two of the full-day bargaining sessions were conducted with the assistance of a provincially appointed conciliator.
The new three-year agreement will expire on June 30, 2024.
Human Resources will be hosting an information session for managers regarding the implementation of the renewed collective agreement. Further information will be communicated in the new year.
