I am interested in studying the intersection of race and gender in twentieth century culture, particularly visual and print culture. I wrote my undergraduate thesis on the art of Käthe Kollwitz and the politics of motherhood in Weimar Germany -- in doing so, I happened upon threads of race, gender, and sexuality during both the Wilhemine and Weimar eras that I want to further probe in non-European context. Thus, I am particularly interested in the print culture of women of color activists during the 1970s and its interracial, transnational nature.
