Students in the summer 2024 offering of HIST 402: How Pandemics Shaped the History of the World participated in a hands-on workshop hosted by the Museum of Health Care in early May. Students were provided with traditional apothecary supplies to try and create a medieval cure for patients’ plague, pox, and piles.
Dr. Aditi Sen was awarded the Principal's Impact Course award in 2023 to develop "How Pandemics Shaped the History of the World," a brand new upper-year seminar course for History students. The course brings together global historical analyses on past pandemics, community engagement in the Kingston area, and experiential learning opportunities in local museums and archives, to weave an innovative and insightful understanding of the role the pandemics have played in shaping our contemporary society and our understanding of Social Determinants of Health (SDOH).
