Emily Johnston (she/her) received her Interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Trent University in Global Development and Gender & Social Justice Studies. Emily’s research focuses upon the intersections of queer studies, trans studies, coercive control, and surveillance utilizing sports as a point of analysis. Her prior research investigates how sports utilize surveillance mechanisms, consciously and subconsciously, to conform and coerce unruly bodies through regulatory mechanisms such as trans-exclusionary sports policies.
