Queen's Remembers - Indigenous Plinth Unveiling

    When:
    Monday, October 16, 2017
    2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
    Where:
McGibbon Walk, between Douglas Library and Ontario Hall
    Find on Campus Map
    Description:

Join Principal Daniel Woolf and representatives from the local Indigenous community as we unveil a commemorative plinth to honour the Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee, upon whose traditional lands Queen’s was built.

This plinth will be the first in a series as part of the ā€œQueen’s Remembersā€ initiative. Queen’s Remembers is designed to commemorate those who have made significant and noteworthy contributions to the history of Queen’s University. Over the coming months, additional commemorative plinths will be unveiled across campus to remember and recognize these groups.

Each plinth will comprise a concrete pillar which holds either a sturdy weatherproof ā€˜book’ containing pages of text and images or a simple plaque with no pages, depending on the layout and the subject. These plinths are designed to help staff and faculty, students, and other visitors to the campus form a more complete picture of the history of Queen’s.
