Abstract:
In 2009, David Suzuki and Don Drummond had lunch. Don, at least, thought their respective disciplines could combine forces to inform policy aimed at improving the environment, including moderating climate change. Since then, economics has played a larger role in policy development, including the recent proposal by the federal government of a carbon price floor across Canada. But much more needs to be done and some of the ideas being floated are ineffective, inefficient and needlessly damaging to Canadians' well-being.
