The Servant of Two Masters is a comedy about a simpleminded trickster, Truffaldino, who in the hopes of double wages and double dinners, is employed by two masters, without either knowing. However, throughout the play he is asked by both to perform similar tasks causing lots of confusion. As a result there is fun for the audience, but maybe not so much for Truffaldino! This play offers a great opportunity for the cast to experiment with Commedia dell’arte and improvisation.

The Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni, born in 1707, is often praised for his work’s mix of wit and social commentary. First produced in 1746, The Servant of Two Masters is one of his most well-known plays.
